The first charter flight from Poland, carrying 189 tourists, landed today, Tuesday, at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, marking the start of the 2025 winter tourism season. This will be facilitated by a regular air bridge with one flight per week for one year (until the end of 2026).
The flight was welcomed by Dr. Thabet Hassan Al-Nabulsi, Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Affairs at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Dr. Mohammed Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment, and Nasser Arafat, Director of King Hussein International Airport. This reception underscores Jordan's and Aqaba's position as a safe and distinguished tourist destination on the Red Sea coast, attracting visitors from around the world.
Al-Nabulsi emphasized that the resumption of direct tourist flights from Poland represents a new beginning for Aqaba within its plans to strengthen its position on the global tourism map. He noted that operating regular flights during the winter season will contribute to increasing visitor numbers and stimulating economic activity in the city and the Golden Triangle.
Al-Nabulsi explained that this This step comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the private sector, to support the local tourism sector and enhance the sustainability of economic activity in the city during the winter season. He added that Aqaba possesses the necessary elements to make it a preferred destination for European tourists, thanks to its warm weather, stunning beaches, and diverse tourism activities. He noted that the Authority, in cooperation with all partners, is working to expand target markets and attract more direct flights in the coming period, which will enhance the city's position on the global tourism map and confirm its ability to accommodate increasing numbers of visitors. For his part, Arafat confirmed the airport's complete readiness to receive flights and tourists, explaining that the resumption of charter flights reflects the growing confidence in Aqaba's tourism potential and the air and ground services provided by the airport according to the highest international standards.
